Mario Hamuy, Nidia Morrell, and Joanna Thomas-Osip, Carnegie Observatories, report that a spectrum (range 360-900 nm) of SN 2003hd (cf. IAUC 8179), obtained on Aug. 15.28 UT with the Las Campanas Clay 6.5-m telescope (+ LDSS-2), shows that this is a young Type II supernova characterized by a blue continuum with incipient H alpha and H beta broad P-Cygni lines.
